Education is the key to a better future, which is why we organise Educational Workshops in Schools as part of our activities. From maths lessons to arts and crafts to sports, our workshops combine learning with fun, inspiring children to develop their skills and passions. Thanks to our volunteers and the educational materials we provide, Gambian children can learn in a way that is engaging and tailored to their needs.

What does our workshop look like?

Each visit by volunteers to The Gambia is an opportunity to organise activities that address the specific needs of the students. We work with local teachers to make our lessons both useful and inspiring. Here are the highlights:

• Maths activities – we help children understand the basics of maths through simple exercises and examples that they can apply to everyday life.
• Art workshops – painting, drawing and other art forms allow children to express themselves, develop their creativity and relax.
• Sports activities – sport is an excellent way to learn to work together, develop physical fitness and integrate children. Team games and movement games are always very popular.

Additional initiatives

In addition to the basic workshops, we also organise educational activities on a variety of topics that support children’s community development and awareness. For example:

• Animal education – we teach children how to treat animals responsibly and take care of their health, which helps build empathy and awareness in local communities.
• Road safety – we teach children about traffic rules, emphasising the importance of wearing reflectors.

Educational materials

We support each workshop with the right materials to help children develop and learn even after the workshop. Some of the items we provide include:

• educational books in English,
• board games and educational toys,
• exercise books, crayons, colouring books and other school supplies.

What is the purpose of it?

Every child deserves the chance to develop, and our workshops help to fill educational gaps in local schools. We focus on a hands-on approach that engages children and gives them the tools to better understand the world.
